Behavior after the storm

Number: 3

When the storm is over, you should consider a few points to avoid endangering yourself and others.

  • If someone is injured, provide first aid and, if necessary, call the emergency services 112 or use the nora app.
  • If your dwelling is badly damaged, stay outside and do not re-enter until cleared by professionals.
  • If the roof is badly damaged, stay well away from the house. Call the fire department 112.
  • Caution! If heating oil or other dangerous substances have been released as a result of flooding, for example in the basement, call the fire brigade on 112.
  • Be careful when entering flooded basements, there is a risk of electric shock if the service box is located in the basement.
  • Only operate electrical devices if they have not become wet.
  • Before cleaning up, you should check and document exactly what has been damaged or destroyed, for example by water ingress or glass breakage.
  • Be careful when entering forests! Even after a storm there is a risk of being injured by falling loose branches or broken trees. Follow the instructions of authorities and, if in doubt, check with your municipality whether it is safe to enter.
